Homoeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of alternative medicine created in 1796 by Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician. He described treatment as Surgical and Non-Surgical, further classified Non-Surgical treatment as Homeopathy, Allopathy  and Isopathy. A practicing physician dissatisfied with the medical practices of his time, Hahnemann sought a more gentle and rational approach to medicine. He was particularly critical of bloodletting and the use of harsh drugs.

Law of Homeopathy (Similars)

Hahnemann formulated the principle of “like cures like” (similia similibus curentur). This idea emerged after he ingested quinine, a treatment for malaria, and experienced malaria-like symptoms. He hypothesized that substances causing symptoms in healthy individuals could, in small doses, treat similar symptoms in sick individuals.

Homeopathic Provings

Hahnemann and his followers conducted experiments called “provings,” in which they administered various substances to healthy volunteers and recorded the symptoms they produced. These symptoms were compiled into “Materia Medica,” comprehensive guides for homeopathic remedies.

Organon of Medicine

In 1810, Hahnemann published “Organon of the Rational Art of Healing,” outlining the principles of homeopathy. This book became the cornerstone of homeopathic practice.
